About WainscotCraft
Built by finish carpenters, woodworkers, and software engineers to bring error-free mathematical precision to architectural millwork.
Why We Built WainscotCraft
For decades, trim carpenters and passionate DIYers had to calculate wainscoting panel layouts using scratch paper, complex algebra, and continuous manual recalculation. A single 1/8-inch tape error at the first box compounds across ten panels into an unsightly 1.25-inch discrepancy by the opposite wall corner.
We created WainscotCraft (WainscotingCalculator.com) to give the woodworking community a free, ad-supported, commercial-grade architectural tool that automatically balances symmetrical panels, generates visual 2D CAD-style wall elevations, and outputs a cumulative tape schedule measured continuously from 0".
Our Mathematical & Carpentry Standards
True Lumber Dimensions
We account for standard dimensional lumber actual sizes (e.g. 1×4 = 3.5" actual) rather than fictional nominal widths.
Cumulative Tape Datum
Eliminates compounded tape measuring error by anchoring every single mark to the 0-inch left corner.
100% Free & Open
No paywalls, no forced registrations, and no locked features. Generously supported by relevant tool sponsorships.
